A bamboo whisk is essential for an authentic matcha experience. This chasen is crafted from dark bamboo, making it perfect for both usucha (thin matcha) and koicha (thick matcha). Each whisk is meticulously handcrafted from a single piece of bamboo, creating thin, flexible tines that are carefully separated and shaped for effortless, frothy whisking.

To preserve its shape and longevity, we recommend blooming your whisk before each use and allowing it to air dry, ideally on a dedicated whisk stand. Please note that the water used to prepare matcha should not exceed 80°C. Proper storage on a whisk stand helps maintain its delicate fibers and extend its lifespan.

The whisk comes packaged in a recyclable white cardboard tube.

How to care for your chasen:

1.     Soak briefly in warm water to soften the tines.

2.     Rinse with warm water (no soap), shake gently, and let air dry.

3.     Place on a whisk stand to maintain its shape and longevity.

SOAK AND WARM UP YOUR BAMBOO CHASEN WHISK IN HOT WATER

Sift 2 grams of matcha powder into a bowl and add a little hot water (max. 80°C). Whisk for 45-60 seconds to get a smooth, green matcha paste. Add another 80 ml of water (80°C) and whisk until rich and frothy. Fill the glass with ice and pour over the matcha. Sip and enjoy your cup of matcha.

Sift 3 grams of matcha powder into a bowl and add a little hot water (max. 80°C). Whisk for 45-60 seconds to get a smooth, green matcha paste. Add another 30 ml of hot water (80°C) and whisk. until creamy and smooth. Pour your matcha over 110 ml warm and foamy, or iced milk of your choice. Sip and enjoy your cup of matcha.
